Our client, a SaaS model life sciences start-up, has an immediate need for a temp – hire Senior Accountant to provide core business accounting.  The ideal candidate is a self-starter and problem-solver who will work closely with C-level executives and the Board of Directors to provide seamless business operations.  They are a venture-backed startup developing cutting edge solutions in the space where artificial intelligence meets Medical Imaging and Healthcare.

  • Manage bank accounts
  • Responsible for accounts payable including license agreement payments
  • QuickBooks data entry
  • Payroll (US, Canada, France)
  • Expense reports: review & escalate policy violations
  • Taxes: manage calculations and payments for US and Canada

Stock Option Administration:

  • Generate reports and analyses as needed
  • Manage process when employees term and choose to exercise options


  • Manage vendor contracts for services, consultants & contractors
  • Manage approval and payment of legal invoices
  • Support for audits, due diligence and other information requests


  • Maintain registrations and business licenses

Board of Directors:

  • Maintain Board meeting minutes and action files
  • Coordinate with Corporate Secretary on meeting minutes & escalating issues to outside law firm


  • Self-starter who gets results with minimal support and direction in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid knowledge of finance tools, practices and processes for start-ups
  • Communicates effectively in both verbal and written communication
  • Strong analytical skills; able to generate effective solutions for complex problems
  • Positive outlook, self-confident and resilient


  • 3 years of experience in small company finance operations including accounting and contract review responsibilities, preferably at a life-sciences start-up, QuickBooks, Expensify
  • 4-yr degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or a related field
  • Experience in small company operations at a time the company was experiencing rapid growth as a result of new funding
  • Experience with Board of Directors, Corporate Secretary and Corporate Legal functions when a company was changing rapidly
