Job Description:

 

Our client, a fast-growing
start-up company, has an opening for a Senior Accountant.
This exciting and rapidly growing company is an e-commerce
and gifting platform for new parents and parents-to-be. The position is
located in Oakland.

 

Summary

The Senior Accountant will be
responsible for financial reporting, maintaining the general ledger and
supporting other accounting-related functions. This person will play an active
role in the financial close process and preparation of month-end journal
entries and related reconciliations.

 

This position requires a strong
understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP, the ability to prioritize, and
the ability to effectively interact at various levels. The ideal candidate will
have a strong drive to learn and grow along with the company.

 

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities 
Including but not limited to:

 

  • Support all month-end close activities
    in accordance with US GAAP within the required deadlines
     including analyzing and reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing journal
    entries, accruals, etc.
  • Monthly balance sheet and income
    statement flux analysis
  • Responsible for e-commerce inventory reconciliation and
    roll-forward
  • Manage multi-states sales tax
    administration assuring data is correctly and timely reflected in TaxJar and
    returns are auto-filed on time
  • Run bi-weekly payroll
  • Manage accounts receivable activities,
    including preparing advertising sales invoices and tracking deferred revenue.
    Follow-up on any past-due balances
  • Work closely with Office Manager who handles accounts payable
    and expense reimbursements to assure information is correctly reflected in the
    general ledger
  • Maintain strong records and back-up
    documentation
  • Other ad hoc projects as required

Skills/Knowledge Required

 

  • Demonstrated problem solving,
    analytical and process improvement skills
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively
    both internally and externally
  • Able to work independently and self-motivate with a flexible
    can-do attitude
  • Strong organizational skills with
    ability to multitask and prioritize within a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail while keeping
    in mind the big picture
  • Proficiency in MS Office Excel including
    v
    lookups and pivot tables
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online preferred
  • Familiarity
    with TaxJar, Gusto, Bill.com and/or Expensify a plus
  • Prior
    e-commerce inventory experience a plus

Experience/Education Required

  • BS degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 5 years of experience
  • Solid accounting background, with
    adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
